Calling out the B.S. and holding accountable the Criminal Justice System
The Who,What and Why of
Campion Legal
Fun fact:
Jean-Remi’s nick name when playing rugby union in France decades ago was ‘the pit bull’
Why? Because he never let go of the ball unless it was tactically advantageous to do so.
Jean-Remi applies the same principle to handling clients matters when dealing with opposition from prosecutions.
From Legionnaire to Lawyer...
My name is Jean-Remi Campion, and I am the founder and Principal Solicitor of Campion Legal.
I'm a down-to-earth qualified legal professional.
I've been around the block a few times and I call a cat a cat, and I don't stand for injustice.
I'm from a lower working-class upbringing, leaving school at 16 with no qualifications or educational certificates.
At the age of 19 years young, in search of challenge and adventure, I enlisted in the French Foreign Legion for five years, serving in the 2nd Parachute Regiment.

Throughout life I have used grit, courage, drive and determination to achieve many goals in life, including serving in the French Diplomatic Service, creating a successful run and triathlon coaching business in Sydney, and then at 50 years old, becoming a professional Firefighter in the Northern Territory, whilst studying law at the same time.

Now I am a lawyer, focusing on Criminal Law Defence, DV and Divorce. These three main areas of law are where lies, deceit and subterfuge are part of the game plan.
I've not forgotten my origins and uses that same grit, drive and determination with my legal knowledge and experience to keep the prosecutions accountable, calling out the bull and obtaining the best outcomes for my clients.
I've has always stood up for the under-dog and continue to do so as a Solicitor.

Why Campion Legal?
Our core principles of operation
‘The Rule of Law’
It is a strongly held view that the presumption of innocence is one of the most critical principles of the rule of law, and is a major pillar of human rights in Australia.
Campion Legal is a transparent, competent and straight-shooting law firm who tells it how it is.
We take on a limited amount of clients to ensure a high professional quality personal service for each client

At Campion Legal we take time to listen and understand what the client is telling us.

We weigh up the available options and take time to explain to the client of the pro’s and cons of each of these options.

Championing Accountability of the Criminal Justice System
Accountability of the judicial system is often a blurred line.
You need to look no further than the Lawyer X scandal and the fall out from that involving high profile judicial officers.
Unfortunately, the blurring of that line still exists.
The separation of powers is there for a reason. To be respected and adhered to. So be it.

To this, our number one goal, (aside obtaining the best outcome for our client), is holding police and prosecutions accountable in criminal law proceedings. And we won't back down from that goal.
Often that may be a situation akin to David and Goliath. But who won that battle?
‘The Rule of Law’
Campion Legal is founded upon the following core principles of the Rule of Law which underpins our ‘modus operandi’:
It is a strongly held view that the presumption of innocence is one of the most critical principles of the rule of law, and is a major pillar of human rights in Australia.
Simply put, it is the notion that all people are considered innocent until proven guilty, and should be treated as such under the law.
It is the prosecutions onus to meet the burden of proving the charge, not for the accused to prove their innocence.
Until the judicial decision maker finds that burden is met, then no guilt can be presumed until the charge has been proved beyond reasonable doubt.
At Campion Legal, upholding these principals and the mission is the backbone of every case taken on.
